Ah, yes, baseball in October. Is it improving?

Sunday was the last day of the regular season for Major League Baseball. When play began at 3 p.m. ET there was the possibility of several scenarios that could spawn a series of tie-breakers, with four teams vying for two wild card spots in the American League and seeded in the League. National League still not completely together.

All possible tie-breaking scenarios ended when Boston won over Washington (7-5) and New York defeated Tampa Bay (1-0). The Red Sox and Yankees will play the American League wild card game on Tuesday night in Boston. The game begins at 8:08 p.m. ET and will air on ESPN.

The St. Louis Cardinals travel to Los Angeles to face the Dodgers in the National League wild card game on Wednesday. Pitcher Adam Wainwright will start the game for the Cardinals.

What about the National League wild card game?

San Francisco’s victory over San Diego (11-4) on Sunday won the NL West Division for the Giants, leaving the Los Angeles Dodgers to host St. Louis on Wednesday night for the National League wild card game. Wednesday’s game in Los Angeles kicks off at 8:10 p.m. ET and airs on TBS.

Tuesday and Wednesday’s games will determine which teams enter the Division Series for both leagues.

League Division Series Matches

While we’ll have to wait and see who wins the wild card matches to take the final spots in the Division Series, some clashes are already set.

In the American League, the Chicago White Sox will travel to Houston to face the Astros on Thursday and Friday at Minute Maid Park for Games 1 and 2.

The other ALDS series will be between the Tampa Bay Rays and the winner of the Red Sox-Yankees wild card game. The first two games will be in Tampa.

In the National League, Atlanta will travel to Milwaukee for the first two games of their NLDS series on Friday and Saturday.

The Giants will be waiting in San Francisco to see if they host the Cardinals or the Dodgers depending on Wednesday’s game.

The times for the games of the division series have not yet been announced.

League Championship Series

Four teams will move from the division game to the league championship series. Following the divisional game, the American League Championship Series kicks off on Friday, October 15, and the National League Championship Series begins on Saturday, October 16. These series are best of seven and will determine who will compete in the 2021 World Series. Title. World Series Game 1 is scheduled for Tuesday, October 26.

All World Series matches will be broadcast on Fox.
