Is this really the end for John Cena? While WWE is orchestrating a grand tournament to find John Cena's final opponent, a former rival is raising eyebrows and questioning the retirement narrative.
John Cena's 'Farewell Tour' has been a rollercoaster, with some bumps along the road. But the WWE has seemingly course-corrected, booking feel-good matches and moments. Now, as we approach what seems like the final chapter, the question remains: is it truly the end?
Rusev, a former adversary of Cena's, isn't buying it. Having shared the ring with the 17-time World Champion, Rusev knows a thing or two about Cena. In an interview with SHAK Wrestling, Rusev expressed his skepticism about Cena's retirement, unlike many of his peers. He believes Cena will return, and personally hopes to see it happen, as he holds immense admiration for his former on-screen rival.
“I don’t believe it. I’m not holding my breath. I love John [Cena], and this may be his last match of this century or whatnot, but at some point, I want to see him back, whenever that is,” Rusev stated.
Their feud in 2015 culminated in a memorable match at WrestleMania 31, a loss that many believe stalled Rusev's momentum as a heel. Now, at 39 years old, Rusev is back in WWE and has an opportunity for retribution. He's participating in 'The Last Time Is Now' Tournament and will face Damian Priest in the first round on next week's RAW.
But here's where it gets controversial... Could Cena's retirement be a carefully crafted storyline? What do you think? Do you believe Cena will return to the ring? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
