Bengals add Joe Mixon to COVID-19 list after testing positive, report
The Cincinnati Bengals placed five players on the Reserve / COVID-19 roster on Tuesday, and they added one more today.
Running back Joe Mixon was added to the COVID list after testing positive, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The Bengals’ Pro-Bowl RB Joe Mixon tested positive today for COVID-19 and will be out on Sunday against the Browns, according to league sources.
A day earlier, the Bengals placed S Vonn Bell, LB Akeem Davis-Gaither, DE Trey Hendrickson, C Trey Hopkins, G Quinton Spain on the reserve / COVID-19 list

Mixon’s positive test comes within five days of the team’s Week 18 game against the Cleveland browns. According to NFL protocols, Mixon would only be eligible to play if he was negative twice 24 hours apart between each test. If he was positive a day earlier, he could clear the protocols on Saturday, whether positive or negative.
Last week Germaine Pratt tested positive on Wednesday and negative on Saturday, but a positive test on Sunday meant he couldn’t be fully cleared to play. Mixon will have to test negative twice in order to play.
The Bengals have already won a home playoff game in less than two weeks, and judging from players already on the COVID roster, it doesn’t look like the Bengals are lining up their full starting lineups on Sunday. Mixon, in all likelihood, will not be one of the starters on the pitch.
