Delhi Police’s ‘puny’ response to weekend curfew question leaves netizens divided
To contain the spread of COVID-19 infections made worse by the Omicron variant, the Delhi government announced a weekend curfew earlier this week. In response, Delhi Police held a question-and-answer session on Twitter which aimed to dispel doubts and confusion over the restrictions that will be implemented on Saturday and Sunday.
As is the nature of social media users, the account received non-serious questions. However, instead of ignoring them, Delhi police responded to one in a humorous and witty manner, leaving netizens divided.
The question was: Can we play cricket with social distancing and a mask? To that, the police replied, âThat’s a ‘silly point, sir. It’s time to take ‘Extra Cover’. Additionally, #DelhiPolice is good at ‘catching’. “
The terms “silly point” and “extra cover” are ground positions in cricket. Using the word “catch”, the law enforcement agency warned people against violating the curfew rules or else they will be arrested and faced with consequences.
Keeping # COVID-19[FEMALE[FEMININE in mind, the weekend curfew will be imposed on Delhi from tomorrow.
If you have any questions about this, #DelhiPolice will answer them.
