Eurosport India wins Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Summer Games broadcast rights
NEW DELHI: Eurosport India, the sports channel of the Discovery broadcast network, announced on Wednesday that it has secured the broadcast rights for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Summer Games, which will take place from August 24 to September 5, 2021.
The sports channel will be the exclusive partner of pay television in the SAARC countries. The Paralympic Committee of India has awarded the rights to Eurosport India which includes a live sports showcase, delayed TV broadcasts and highlights at key events in 22 sport disciplines. This will be Eurosport’s first global multisport event in India.
Gursharan Singh, Secretary General of the Indian Paralympic Committee, said: âIndians all over the world should be able to enjoy the triumphant performance of our Paralympic stars. Eurosport will be our official media broadcast partner to share the exciting live streaming of the event from minute to minute. “
Eurosport India’s coverage of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Summer Games will begin on August 27 to coincide with the men’s and women’s archery events at the Yumenoshima Park archery field. Fans will be able to watch the matches live on the OTT (over-the-top) Discovery + video streaming platform.

India will field its largest all-time contingent this year with 54 Paralympic athletes competing in nine sporting disciplines. It includes the world n Â° 3 and n Â° 2 Sumit Antil and Sandeep Chaudhary in Javelin; Manish Narwal (10m air pistol), Singhraj (10m air pistol) and Avani Lekhara (10m air rifle, 50m air rifle) in shooting and Mariyappan Thangavelu in high jump. Thangavelu will also be the flag bearer for the Indian team.
Badminton will make its debut at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Summer Games, which will feature up to five commuters in the men’s category – Pramod Bhagat, Manoj Sarkar, Tarun Dhillon, Suhas Yathiraj and Krishna Nagar alongside women’s doubles from Parul Parmar and Palak Kohli.
