‘He’s no longer a reckless child’: Dinesh Karthik responds to India’s mid-order problems in ODIs

India’s mid-order woes continued on the recently concluded tour of South Africa as they were swept in the three-game ODI series by the Proteas. Except for a few batters, the Indian batting lineup crumbled against the South African bowling attack and the team failed to win a single ODI. While analyzing India‘s mid-range batting problems, Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik said that someone like Ravindra Jadeja, who missed the series through injury, could win matches for India, having beaten so well for the team recently.

Karthik feels that unlike his debut, Jadeja is no longer that ‘reckless kid’ as he bats with a lot of intelligence especially in cricket, adding that the player can strike without. 6 or even 5, given his recent exploits with the bat.

“Jadeja is ready to strike at No. 6. In fact, he strikes so well that he can also play at No. 5. He uses his brain and is not that reckless kid anymore. He is someone who wins matches with the bat. In fact, in white ball cricket, his strongest suit is his stick,” Karthik said on Cricbuzz.

Jadeja is currently injured, having suffered a right forearm injury in the first Test against New Zealand last year.

After losing the Test as well as the ODI series against South Africa, the Indian team will be looking to bounce back in the next set of clean balls against West Indies at home.

Promoted

India and the West Indies will play three ODIs, followed by as many T20Is between February 6 and 20.

The ODIs will be played in Ahmedabad while the T20Is will be played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
