Howell and Olson named to ABCA/Rawlings All-America teams
GREENSBORO, NC — Augustana baseball saw two of its players earn All-America honors, announced by the American Baseball Coaches Association.
Carter Howell was named to the NCAA Division II All-America First Team. Will Olson was named to the NCAA Division II All-America Third Team.
Howell earns ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors for the second time in his Augustana career. He previously earned Second-Team All-America honors in 2021. Howell earned D2CCA and NCBWA First-Team All-Region honors in 2022. From 61 games, Howell reached .396 with 68 points scored, 91 hits hits, 11 doubles, three triples, 17 home runs and 74 RBIs.
Howell stole 23 bases on 25 attempts and had 91 hits. It also has a .691 SLG% and a .447 OB%.
This is Olson’s second ABCA/Rawlings All-America honor after receiving All-American third-team honors in 2021. Olson also earned NCBWA second-team honors and D2CCA second-team honors at the 2022 season. He has a .379 batting average and has consistently been one of the Vikings’ best hitters this season.
The senior catcher had 75 hits, 15 doubles, 12 home runs, 63 RBIs and started in 56 of the 58 games he has played this season. Behind the plate, Olson’s field percentage sits at .987.
Teams are elected by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. II All-America Committee.
First-team ABCA/Rawlings All-Region selections are nominated for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors. ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove winners for all divisions will be announced on Wednesday, June 22.
