Marshall F. Confer, 90, of Warren, PA, died April 30, 2022 at Kinzua Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Warren, PA. Marshall was born November 10, 1931 in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Philip Confer and the late Madalyn Lyons Confer.
Marshall graduated in 1949 from Lycée Bellefonte. At the start of the Korean War, he enlisted in the 200th FA Battalion and was part of the last train of troops to leave the Bellefonte area.
After returning to civilian life, he completed extensive employment training with GTE Sylvania at Mill Hall, Williamsport, Muncy and Warren, PA. While working at Sylvania, he took courses to become a PA licensed real estate agent. Upon retirement from Sylvania, he worked for 5 years at the Warren County Rouse Home in environmental services.
Marshall loved working with people and coached his sons in baseball. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and observing the accomplishments of his sons and grandchildren.
Marshall was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Warren, PA, and the Russell Fire Department. Marshall was a former member of several social and professional clubs.
Marshall is survived by two sons Keith Confer and his wife Judy of Warren, PA, and Gregg Confer and his partner Kate Sekely of Hop Bottom, PA; five grandchildren Rachael Hopewell and her husband Robbie of Knightdale, NC, Nathan Confer and his wife Tracy of Seattle, WA, Reed Confer and his wife Sierra of Jim Thorpe, PA, Fielding Confer of Boston, MA, Paige Confer of Warren, PA; three great-grandchildren Ellie and Barrett Hopewell and Zara Confer; sisters Marguerite Davidson and Harriet (Bonnie) Wolfe; sister-in-law Rachel McFarland; brother-in-law Rich McFarland.
In addition to his parents, Marshall is predeceased by his wife Carolyn Heverly Confer, whom he married on December 28, 1951, at Blanchard Church of Christ in Blanchard, PA. They missed their 70th wedding anniversary together by six weeks; sisters Martha Confer, Mary Shiner, Betty Watson, Lois Lucas, Joyce Hahn and Bernice Graybill; brothers Ronald and Herbert Elwood.
Friends will be received at Calvary Baptist Church, 445 Conewango Ave. Warren, PA on Friday, May 6, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at which time a funeral service will be held, with the Reverend Joel Dingeldein officiating. Interment will be at Center County Memorial Park, State College, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Calvary Baptist Church, Russell Fire Department, 111 Perrigo Lane, Russell, PA, National Kidney Foundation, rein.org, or Hospice of Warren County, 1 Main Ave . Warren, PA.
