Obituaries of Joyce Grove (1938 – 2022) – Chariton, IA

Joyce Captolia (Gee) Grove died at her home on Friday March 4, 2022, aged 83. She was born on September 29, 1938 to Gerald Gee and Pearl (Casey) Gee. She attended Painted Post High School. In 1962, she married Charles Richard Grove.
Joyce was a homemaker during her twenty years as a military wife. She was an excellent seamstress and quickly made any house, apartment or quonset a stylish retreat as she followed wherever her husband’s career took them. They eventually settled in Des Moines, Iowa, where she worked for several years at Kmart overseeing receiving and later part-time for the Sun Valley Lake water system in Sun Valley Lake, Iowa.
Upon full retirement, she and Chuck moved to Florida and enjoyed RV trips, with extended annual visits to family and friends in Colorado, Iowa, New York, and Texas. Family and friends were the most important aspect of Joyce’s life. She remained socially active through various clubs, weekly play gatherings, and volunteering. She attended Baghdad United Methodist Church. She was an animal lover.
She is predeceased by her husband, the love of her life, Charles Richard Grove, her parents Gerald and Pearl Gee, her son Randall Dean Grove, her brothers Gerald Gee and Daniel Gee.
She is survived by her daughter Debra (Jim) Young, her stepdaughter Susan Grove, her grandchildren Shantel (Glennie) Nicholson, Justin (Sara) Grove, Alexis Joy (Gabriel) Roberts, six great-grandchildren, his brother Thomas (Donna) Gee, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
She will be missed and remembered as a compassionate, loving and fun mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She gave wisdom, beauty and humor to all who knew her.
The memorial service and interment is scheduled for July 16, 2022 in Chariton, Iowa at the Fielding Funeral Home.
