Versatile Indian player Washington Sundar is in England these days plying his trade for Lancashire County in the Royal London One-Day Championship games after playing a few games for them in the County Championship Division One. The 22-year-old from Tamil Nadu made his sensational first-class debut for the Old Trafford-based side when he landed a fife in their first leg against Northamptonshire on July 19 last month. And now he has also made three List A appearances for the team.
But bad news for him as for Team India, the all-rounder suffered a shoulder injury on Wednesday in the game against Worcestershire, due to which he left the field after receiving treatment on his left shoulder following a hard landing during terrain. There is no official update on the extent of his injury yet.

Sundar has been named in India’s squad for the next three-game ODI series against Zimbabwe, which kicks off on August 18, but that shoulder injury has now put his participation in jeopardy.

“Washington Sundar left the field after receiving treatment to his left shoulder following a hard landing. No breakthrough with the ball yet. 27-0 (8),” Lancashire tweeted.

Earlier this year, also in IPL 2022, Sundar injured his hand bowling while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad and missed a considerable number of games. He joined Lancashire to regain his fitness last month and has been in fine form for the English county side so far. He played in two County Championship games where he scored 52 runs and scalped eight wickets. He took three wickets in the first two Over-50 domestic matches but is likely to miss the remaining fixtures due to his recent injury.

After making his debut against Australia on December 13, 2017, the former Indian U-19 cricketer has played in 4 Tests, 4 ODIs and 31 T20Is for the Men in Blue.
