WATCH: Virat Kohli takes remarkable hold to fire Odean Smith – IND vs WI, 2nd ODI

From Rohit Sharma’s splendid captaincy to Prasidh Krishna’s terrific bowling, the recently concluded second ODI between India and West Indies had so many joyful moments for Indian fans. But, there was another incident which drew maximum stares involving the former skipper Virat Kohli.

The Delhi lad presented a classy pitch in the latter stages of the Windies pursuit and grabbed a sensational hold to get rid of Odean Smith. The dismissal gave Team India a sense of relief because Smith was hitting balls quite well and slowly taking his side close to the target.

It all happened in the 45th round of the West Indies played by an off-spinner Washington Sundar. In a critical situation where the game could go anywhere, Sundar kept his nerves and delivered one of the finest overs.

Sundar conceded just three runs until the last ball of the over, which Smith faced. The versatile Windies player decided to go for the full month and kicked the ball into the deep central wicket. It was a mistimed shot as the white leather moved miles through the air, making it quite difficult for fielders to catch it under the lights.

However, Kohli used all his experience to get under the ball quite well and took the hold to end Smith’s shot (24 from 20). Kohli hit his head on the ground falling behind, but he managed to hold on.

The hosts defended a low score of 237/9 as they wrapped West Indies for just 193. With the win, India also sealed the series with one game to play.

“Obviously winning the series is a good feeling. There were some challenges. The partnership between Rahul and Surya had a lot of maturity. We came to a respectable total at the end. We knew we could fight. The whole of the unit came out and played superbly. Rohit said after the game.
