To become a superpower in any sport, the national structure of the sport in that specific country becomes important. India has become a world-class unit thanks to a strong national structure and the Indian Premier League has also played its part over the years. The league has seen youngsters emerging who have shown their potential in the most competitive T20 league in the world. Some of them have disappeared, some of them have arrived from the Indian side of T20I and some of them are still trying to find a way to get into the Indian team.

IPL 2022 has 10 participating teams and it will be an intense competition this season. 25 matches of the tournament have been played so far and some youngsters have already revealed their skills in the tournament. With the kind of skills these players have shown, they can qualify for the national team if they are well prepared. Let’s take a look at some of the tournament’s emerging hitters who have impressed onlookers so far.

Tilak Varma

The left-handed striker from Hyderabad has impressed many with his exploits in the tournament so far. Varma has absolutely solid technique and a brave approach to stamping his authority. He scored 157 points in five games at 39.25 and a brilliant 160.2 strike rate. Tilak Varma also has an impressive track record in domestic cricket. He has 255 first-class points at 31.87, 784 List A points at 52.26 and 538 T20 points at 31.64. In his first game against the Delhi Capitals, Varma showed great composure and played a 22-point hit from 15 balls on the run. a decent partnership with Ichan Kishan.

He then scored half a century against Rajasthani Royals and has always been among the races. He fought for the pursuit of 194 runs against RR and was top scorer, but falling wickets at the back cost the team defeat. Also against the Punjab Kings in the last match, he and Dewald Brevis tied an 84-run partnership for the third wicket. He played a shot for 36 points but the team lost the game. Varma has technique for the role and can be a good mid-order hitter and selectors might consider him for selection whenever there is an available mid-or-higher order spot.

Abhinav Manohar

Abhinav Manohar is another guy in Indian cricket who has shown his talent in the current IPL season. He scored 94 runs in 4 innings at 31.33. Manohar was faced with a bowling attack consisting of Dushmantha Chameera, Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi. However, the youngster wasn’t afraid to take on the bowling alley and he scored an unbeaten 15 runs from 7 balls playing a key role in the end game.

In his last two games, Manohar has scores of 35 and 43 respectively. Also, the two times the wickets broke down on one side and Hardik Pandya was playing alone, he formed a decent partnership with the captain. Manohar also has the ability to change gears depending on the situation and hence the skills become very useful while hitting in the middle order.

Ayush Badoni

Delhi-based cricketer Ayush Badoni has shown his quality to absorb pressure right from the start of IPL 2022. He has been praised by many former cricketers and pundits praised his skills in a very short time. Badoni scored 107 runs in five innings at 35.67 with a half-century. In his very first game of IPL career, when Lucknow Super Giants were down to 29/4. However, Badoni and Deepak Hooda forged a crucial 87-run partnership for the fifth wicket and helped the team to a decent tally on the scoreboard.

He also continued his form against Chennai Super Kings and scored 19 unbeaten runs from 9 balls and played as a finisher. Badoni delivered regularly for LSG whenever he got the chance. However, most of the time he plays very few deliveries as they have a batting unit that has world class hitters like KL Rahul, Quinton de KockEvin Lewis and Marcus Stoinis. From everything we’ve seen of Badoni this IPL, he plays a fearless brand of cricket and can be a good mid-order hitter as well as a quality finisher if properly prepared.

Anuj Rawat

Anuj Rawat was purchased by Bangalore Royal Challengers for Rs 3.40 Crores and the amount paid to acquire his services was surprising to many. Now he has become a regular fly-half for the team and has a lot of quality and solid technique in his game. Rawat has 954 premier class runs at 30.77 and 573 List A runs at 44.07 under his belt. In the first three games, Rawat recorded scores of 21.0, 26 and the decision to open innings with him came under heavy criticism.

The southpaw showed why he was the franchise’s priority and had 66 carries from 47 balls with two limits and six sixes. Additionally, he plays offensive cricket and allows the batter with him to take time to settle on the crease. Rawat is still in his early days in cricket and has a lot to achieve in the future. For this season, RCB will look to him for a strong start to the top for them and to inspire future hitters to take the team to a huge total.

Once again, IPL has proven to be a platform for young cricketers to prove themselves and many of them are delivering for their franchises. Hopefully these cricketers will continue to shine in the game and excel to become successful cricketers in the future.
